Dr Michelle Wilson-Ching

Educational and Developmental Psychologist Registrar

Dr Michelle Wilson-Ching is a registered Psychologist and a trained EMDR therapist. She completed a Master of Educational and Developmental Psychology (Monash University) and a PhD in the area of Developmental Neuropsychology (University of Melbourne). Michelle has gained training experience working in clinics, schools, research institutes, and hospitals in collaboration with other allied health professionals in a clinical and research capacity.

Michelle supports individuals across the lifespan (adults, adolescents, and children) who are navigating life difficulties arising from psychological challenges or mental health disorders that may be related to anxiety, depression, or obsessive-compulsive disorders, for example. Michelle also supports individuals who have experienced complex and acute trauma, or everyday life stressors (e.g., demanding leadership roles, work, school, or parenting challenges), as well as neurodevelopmental conditions (e.g., ADHD, Autism, learning difficulties).

Michelle considers the therapeutic alliance with clients as key to fostering self-awareness of their strengths as well as areas for development and healing. Together, they collaboratively identify direction and purpose in their lives, facilitating personal growth and building resilience. Michelle’s therapeutic approach is holistic, recognising the physical, cognitive, and spiritual dimensions as integral to healing and well-being. Her therapeutic approach is also developmental in nature, considering change across the lifespan as key to understanding present strengths and challenges. Michelle uses a systems-based approach, viewing connections with family and communities around the individual as pivotal to well-being and managing mental health.

Michelle draws upon various evidence-based therapeutic modalities, including CBT, Schema therapy, ACT, and EMDR. Michelle is a registered member of the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), a member of the Australian Association of Psychologists Inc. (AAPi), and a member of the EMDR Association of Australia (EMDRAA).
